LPVO Scopes Canada: 1-6x, 1-8x and 1-10x

A low power variable optic (LPVO) is a rifle scope that starts at a true 1x, so you can shoot with both eyes open like a red dot, then zooms to 6x, 8x or 10x when you need to identify or place a shot further out. It is the most versatile single optic for a rifle that does both close and longer work.

What you will find

Monstrum Beast, Archangel, Panzer and Ladon LPVOs with ED glass in first and second focal plane
Swampfox Arrowhead 1-6x24 and 1-10x24 with locking turrets
SIG SAUER Tango-MSR, Trijicon Credo HX and Nightforce NX8 1-8x24
LPVO accessories: cantilever mounts, killFLASH anti-reflection devices and flip-up covers

How to choose

First focal plane (FFP) reticles keep holds accurate at every magnification; second focal plane (SFP) reticles stay the same size and are easier to see at 1x. Most LPVOs use a 30mm or 34mm tube and mount best in a cantilever mount that puts the scope at the right eye relief on an AR-style rail.

Frequently asked questions

1-6x, 1-8x or 1-10x?

1-6x is lighter and usually brighter at 1x. 1-8x and 1-10x add reach for identifying game or shooting further, with a little more weight and a smaller eye box.

First or second focal plane?

FFP keeps BDC or MIL holds correct at any zoom. SFP keeps the reticle bold at low power. Hunters who mostly shoot at 1x to 4x often prefer SFP.

What mount do I need for an LPVO?

A one-piece cantilever mount in the scope's tube size (30mm or 34mm) is the usual choice for AR-style rifles. Check the height against your stock and eye position.
