Description
Cal's Purple Universal Reel and Drag Grease
Cal's Thinner Purple Universal Reel and Star Drag grease blends decades of hands-on fishing and reel customization with ultra-modern lubrication technology, including PTFE and polymers. The 1-ounce formula is designed to support smaller reels in cooler conditions, while delivering reliable lubrication for moving parts under varying loads.
This grease aims to shield reels from harsh elements and wear, helping interfaces stay smooth and responsive across a range of metals, plastics, seals, and drag components. The light-purple formulation is easy to identify during maintenance and is crafted to stay where you apply it, reducing the need for frequent reapplication.
Key benefits at a glance
- Incredible salt-water protection on metals such as aluminum, steel, and brass
- Safe on anodized and plated surfaces
- Compatible with common plastics, drag materials, seals, and O-rings used in reels
- High temperature stability with a dropping point over 500 °F
- Ultra-smooth drag performance and reduced gear-drive friction
- Low creep, so the grease stays in place where you apply it
How to use
- Thoroughly clean all surfaces of salt, dirt, and old grease before applying
- Apply to interior metal surfaces including gears, screws, and slow-turning bearings
- Apply a small amount to star drags—just enough to leave a very thin film
- Less is better on drags
- Inspect your reel annually, more frequently if used in severe duty, and reapply as needed
Real-world use scenarios
Although labeled for smaller reels and colder climates, the purple formula supports a range of fishing setups. Anglers may notice smoother cranking, steadier drag feel, and more predictable performance during long retrieves or in demanding conditions.
Why choose Cal's
Cal s Universal Reel and Drag Grease offers a practical maintenance option that combines corrosion protection, heat resistance, and stable lubrication.
