CAMP Corsa Ice Axe – 70cm | Ultra-Light Glacier Travel & Ski Mountaineering

Overview

The CAMP Corsa Ice Axe is built for high-alpine routes where every gram counts. Measuring 70 cm in length, it offers a balanced reach for stable pole placements and efficient kicking steps, while keeping weight to a minimum. This hyperlight design aims to support longer approaches, reduce hand fatigue, and preserve energy for the tougher sections of glacier travel and ski mountaineering. The result is a versatile tool that blends agility with reliability when conditions are cold and variable.

Design and performance

Engineered for cold mornings, windy days, and low-visibility terrain, the Corsa provides a predictable feel on ice, hardpack, or packed snow. The machined grip is designed for comfort with gloves, and the shaft geometry supports a balanced stance during ascent or self-belay attempts. A nylon spike plug helps keep snow out of the shaft, minimizing drag during placement and transitions.

• Hyperlight construction eases long ascents and rapid tool exchanges
• Nylon spike plug reduces snow intrusion for smoother handling
• Machined grip offers secure control in cold or wet conditions
• 70 cm length balances reach with portability and leverage

Practical use and real-world scenarios

On real-life alpine days, the Corsa Ice Axe can serve multiple roles: it can assist as you climb snowfields, serve as a steady contact point on mixed terrain, or function as a compact anchor for short belays. The design encourages fluid transitions between walking and anchoring, helping you stay confident across changing snow and ice.

• Glacier travel where a lighter tool supports sustained vert
• Ski mountaineering routes with a mix of snow, ice and rock ribbing
• Snowy approaches and down-climb sections requiring precise placement
• Leash-integrated setups with the Corsa leash (sold separately) for extra security on exposed lines

Care and compatibility: The head slot is designed to accommodate the Corsa leash (sold separately), enabling an optional secure setup for demanding routes. After use, rinse with fresh water if needed, dry thoroughly, and store in a cool, dry place to maintain grip and hardware integrity. This ice axe is intended to complement your CAMP gear kit, delivering a balance of lightweight feel, reliable grip, and practical snow management features.
