CAMP Turbo Chest Ascender Black – Smooth Rope Interface & Durable Build

Overview

The CAMP Turbo Chest Ascender is a high-performance chest-mounted rope tool designed for smoother ascents and longer sessions. By integrating two proprietary rollers, the rope interface with the device is refined, reducing abrupt grabs and helping your upward glide feel more controlled. The result is less friction-related wear and a cleaner, more stable line as you move through traverses and pendulums.

Highlights for climbing efficiency

In real-world use, climbers notice several benefits: the rope stays aligned with the device thanks to a precisely profiled closure, which helps prevent rope from slipping during tight moves. Self-cleaning holes on the body and cam assist lighter upkeep, keeping the unit ready in damp or dusty environments. Thicker body plates and a shaped connection point minimize shifting between the device and the connector, preserving alignment even when paired with steel connectors.

Ease of use

• Lock-open feature for easier attachment, saving time during setup.
• Removable pull cord designed for operation while wearing gloves.

Versatility and durability

• Proprietary rollers enable optional locking-pulley rig for light hauling (up to 50 kg / 110 lbs).
• Compatible with rope diameters from 8 to 13 mm for flexible setups.

Technical details

Certification and performance notes accompany the design. The Turbo Chest Ascender is EN 12841/B certified for semi-static ropes from 10 to 13 mm and EN 567 for ropes from 8 to 13 mm. It weighs about 111 g and is engineered to maintain alignment along the body during movement, reducing wear on both rope and hardware.

What to expect

Results depend on technique and conditions, but the combination of smooth roller action, robust construction, and practical features may translate to more comfortable ascents, smoother transitions, and consistent rope routing across your climbs.
