Description
Overview
Hareline Dubbin’s Marabou Blood Quills offer precise control for tying delicate, lifelike flies. Each 1 oz package delivers thin center shafts that wind smoothly for hackling, and vanes that align evenly for clean winging.
These quills excel across various dressing techniques. They gather well for tails and wings, while sparse barbules let you dial in density for fine, restrained profiles. Hareline Marabou is widely regarded as premium material in fly tying today.
What makes them stand out
- Smooth wind for hackling and neat, repeatable wraps
- Even vane tips that simplify winging and flow control
- Sparse barbules provide density control for subtle dress
- Versatile for jigs and a range of fly patterns
- High-quality Hareline Marabou that many tyers trust
Real-world use
When building jigs or patterns requiring a light, breathable profile, Blood Quills shine. They support both broad, flowing wing designs and slender profiles with a focus on consistency and detail.
Practical tips for use:
- Wind along the center shaft to maintain symmetry
- Preserve a touch of barbule to adjust density
- Pair with other Hareline materials for layered effects
Care and storage
Store in a cool, dry place to preserve feather quality. Avoid crushing the vane tips to keep them evenly aligned for future ties.
