Kalin's Lunker Grub 5in Motor Oil Red Flake – Versatile Soft Plastic for Fresh & Saltwater

Overview

The Kalin's Lunker Grub is a simple, ribbed soft plastic lure featuring a single curly tail. Its compact profile is paired with a precisely tuned action that comes alive even at ultra-slow retrieves, making it a reliable option across a range of fishing scenarios. The 5" size and motor oil red flake color offer visibility and appeal in varied water conditions.

Why anglers trust this lure

Designed for dependable tail action, the Lunker Grub delivers noticeable movement with minimal effort. Its soft yet durable formula stays pliable in cold water, helping maintain feel and performance after contact with structure or bites. While soft, the material is built to resist a variety of fishing stresses, supporting repeated casts and steady presentation.

• The ribbed, single curly tail yields consistent action across retrieves.
• Maximum tail movement even at ultra-slow speeds enhances bite opportunities.
• Soft, flexible formula remains effective in cold water while offering durability.
• Suitable for a broad range of species in both salt and fresh water.

How to fish it

Begin with a slow, deliberate cadence to let the tail pulse and thump. Adjust depth and rig to mirror water temperature, current, and cover. A light jig head or drop-shot setup helps maintain a near-horizontal presentation that keeps the lure active along structure and over the bottom.

Real-world uses

Anglers rely on the Lunker Grub from shallow bays to deeper structure. Its action can entice panfish in calm conditions and attract larger predators when the water is cooler or when fish behave cautiously. The 5" length in motor oil red flake provides visibility and subtle flash that can draw attention in murky or low-light conditions.

Quick setup ideas

• Recommended rigs: light jig heads, drop-shot, or Texas-rig style presentations.
• Color and size note: motor oil red flake 5in pairs well with moderate gear and can be effective in mixed environments.
