Katadyn Vario Water Filter – Dual-Technology Microfilter for Camping & Emergency Prep

Meet the Katadyn Vario: Dual-Technology Filtration for Anywhere You Go

The Katadyn Vario Microfilter is designed for personal use or small groups, delivering reliable water filtration in a compact, field-ready package. It blends two filtration technologies into one versatile system: a durable ceramic pre-filter and a high-surface-area pleated glass-fiber element, complemented by an activated carbon core to help improve taste and reduce odors. This combination offers practical filtration performance without sacrificing portability.

Three-stage filtration you can feel in every sip

• Adjustable ceramic pre-filter adapts to water quality, extending the life of the filter in dirty environments.
• 0.2-micron pleated glass-fiber microfilter targets fine particulates and small contaminants for clearer water.
• Replaceable activated carbon core helps improve taste and reduces odors as the cartridge life progresses.

Two pumping modes to fit your situation

• Fast mode delivers up to two quarts per minute for quick water on the move.
• Longer-life mode prioritizes cartridge lifespan with about one quart per minute.

Designed for compatibility and ease of use

• Dual piston technology provides efficient pumping with less effort.
• Adapter base connects directly to water bottles; a 36-inch output hose works with hydration packs or larger containers.
• Includes prefilter, cleaning pad, and deluxe carry bag for storage and transport.

Key specs at a glance: weighs about 15 ounces, stands 6.5 inches tall, and uses a cartridge capable of filtering up to 500 gallons (1875 liters). This is part of Katadyn’s Backcountry Series, designed for rugged outdoor use and trusted by outdoor enthusiasts and humanitarian operators alike.

In practice, you can expect a compact, sturdy system that’s ready for backpacking trips, campsite setups, or emergency preparedness kits. It’s not a guarantee of safety in every situation, but the Vario’s adjustable pre-filter, dual filter stages, and carbon core are designed to offer practical filtration and better-tasting water when clean sources are scarce.

Whether you’re planning a solo trek, a small-group excursion, or stocking an emergency kit, the Vario balances performance, portability, and ease of maintenance to support your water needs on and off the trail.
