LAMSON Speedster S-Series Spool (Spool Only) – All-Water | Ember | 2wt–4wt

Overview

The LAMSON Speedster S-Series spool (spool-only) is engineered as a high-performance upgrade for fly anglers who demand quick line handling. Its narrower profile, inboard handle, and a larger outer diameter compared with some of our top reels work together to enhance line flow off the spool. The tighter spool profile helps prevent line barreling during fast pickups, while the inboard handle and increased circumference contribute to a quicker retrieve. Paired with our classic Waterworks-Lamson styling and a trusted, maintenance-free drag system, this component embodies the idea of a sporty, powerful reel upgrade. A refined spool machining approach places material only where it’s needed, yielding a lighter, higher-performing piece than its predecessor.

On-Water Performance and Design Details

Designed for versatility on all-water adventures, this spool is built with All-Water components, including a stainless steel spindle suitable for both salt and freshwater. The result is a durable, dependable addition to your Speedster S setup. An extra-large arbor allows for rapid line retrieval and neat line stacking, helping to keep memory in check and leaving ample room for backing. This makes the spool a strong candidate for varied conditions and line choices across different rods.

Whether you’re chasing dry fly mends or nymphing under overcast skies, the Speedster S spool offers configuration flexibility that supports a range of line types and weights. It’s compatible with any matching-size Speedster S reel, and it accommodates both HD and Non-HD spool variants, giving you options without sacrificing performance. Keep in mind, this is a spool-only accessory and isn’t compatible with older Speedster generations.

Compatibility & Versatility

• COMPATIBILITY: Spool designed for Speedster S reels in the matching size; works with both HD and Non-HD variants; not compatible with older Speedster generations.
• VERSATILITY: Mix and match line weights across rods; use floating, intermediate, or sinking line types to adapt to changing water conditions.
• EXTRA LARGE ARBOR: Tall, narrow profile stacks line cleanly and reduces memory, with room for backing.
• DURABILITY: Fully CNC-machined, lightweight, and anodized for lasting strength and resistance to wear.
• ALL-WATER COMPONENTS: Stainless steel spindle suitable for salt or freshwater; comfortable handle and anodized shaft.

• FAST RETRIEVE: Inboard handle design and larger diameter support rapid line pickup after a cast.
• LINE MEMORY REDUCTION: Design minimizes coiling for smoother, more controllable line management.
• BACKING CAPACITY: Generous arbor space supports longer runs when backing is needed.
• WEIGHT SAVING: Precision machining targets material where it’s needed for a lighter, strong spool.

Durability & All-Water Build

Durability is built into every facet of the Speedster S spool. The CNC-machined construction balances strength with lightweight design, while the anodized finish guards against wear in varied environments. The stainless spindle is a practical choice for anglers who fish saltwater and freshwater alike, helping to ensure reliable performance across water types. The combination of a robust build and thoughtful ergonomics yields a component that feels responsive under a wide range of fishing scenarios, from short, accurate casts to long, line-driven retrieves.
