Lew's Mach Baits Werkbait Jerkbait Lure – 5/16 oz Floating, 1-3 ft Dive

Overview

Meet the Lew's Mach Baits Werkbait Jerkbait, a compact 5/16 oz floating lure built for agile, screen-free presentations in shallow water. Its action is designed to surprise and engage fish with quick twitches and side-to-side dashes, then drift to a natural pause that can prompt reaction strikes. The Werkbait is crafted to excel where finesse and timing matter, such as over low vegetation, rocky flats, or areas with pressured, wary catch opportunities.

How the Werkbait Works

The carved bill creates distinctive motion when you twitch with the rod tip or rip it with a sharp grab of slack line. When retrieved with speed, it darts with energy; when twitched slowly, it produces a subtle, enticing glide. It is designed to pause and suspend at depth, then rise slowly, offering a reliable sequence that can trigger finicky feeders to bite.

• 1-3 ft diving depth suits shallow flats and weed edges
• Floating design helps you manage cadence and pause timing
• Side-to-side darting action mimics a fleeing baitfish

Practical Use Scenarios

Perfect for fishing over shallow vegetation, near grass beds, and along rocky shorelines where stealth and precise action matter. The Werkbait’s action can be tailored by how you twitch, how quickly you reel, and how you use slack in the line to unlock its irresistible motion.

How to Fish It

• Cast and retrieve rapidly for a bold, erratic presentation or slow-twitch for a more subtle invite
• Keep rod tip low and twitch over grass beds to maximize the bait’s bite-provoking action
• Move the bait with deliberate slack in the line to trigger the lure’s signature darting response
