Mustad Daggerman Jig 280g Yellow Candy – Front-Weighted Vertical Jig for Predators

Overview

The Mustad Daggerman Jig 280g in Yellow Candy is a purpose built front weighted vertical lure designed to tempt offshore predators. Its compact form pairs a heavy lead head with a slender, tapered body, delivering a clean, fast drop that plays well in deep water and current. When rigged with a Mustad Ultrapoint hook, the setup is ready for a focused strike window and solid hookups.

This 280 gram model is tuned for deep water presentations and can be driven with a rhythm that matches fish behavior. The Yellow Candy color provides high visibility under a range of light conditions, helping the lure stand out in blue water without reliance on luck alone. The design prioritizes a quick, decisive drop so anglers can reach deeper zones where predatory fish often roam.

What makes it work

The Daggerman Jig features an aerodynamic profile that slices through the water with minimal resistance, helping it maintain a compelling presence in the strike zone. The lure’s movement mimics a struggling baitfish, a pattern that can attract curious predators such as amberjack, yellowtail, and dogtooth tuna. A front weighted bias keeps the action tight and controllable, even when the current picks up.

Anglers commonly employ a retrieve that blends short, rapid pumps with brief pauses. This cadence creates a lifelike rhythm that can provoke a bite at multiple depths while reducing predictable patterns that predators may ignore.

How to fish it

Present the jig in a vertical style, allowing it to drop naturally and then raise attention with controlled lifts. Adjust depth and tempo to match water clarity, current, and target species. Yellow Candy offers good visibility across conditions, aiding bite detection and strike timing.

Key design features

• Front weighted vertical profile for precise drop and steady tracking
• Aerodynamic body shape that cuts through water with ease
• Resembles the natural movement of a struggling baitfish
• Rigged with a Mustad Ultrapoint hook for reliable hookups

Fishing tips for best action

• Use short, rapid pumps with brief pauses to mimic injured baitfish
• Maintain tension and vary depth to locate the strike zone
• Start with a moderate tempo and adjust according to current and species
• Keep the lure in the water column where predators hunt and cruise

Whether targeting amberjack along a reef edge or chasing yellowtail offshore, the Daggerman Jig offers a confident option for anglers seeking depth, visibility, and a dynamic lure action. While outcomes depend on conditions and technique, the combination of weight, shape, and proven hardware makes this jig a compelling candidate for many blue water setups.
