Okuma Coldwater CW-553LS High-Speed Wireline Trolling Reel

Overview

The Okuma Coldwater Wireline CW-553LS is built for serious cold-water trolling where sensitivity, control, and reliability matter. Its high-speed gear train translates energy into fast line pickup, while the levelwind keeps line lay tight and consistent as you work lures through chilly depths or choppy seas. The result is a reel designed to respond quickly to each bite and to stay steady under demanding conditions.

With an oversized brass XL gearing system driving the multi-disk Carbonite drag washers, the CW-553LS aims for smooth, sustained resistance. A dual anti-reverse system adds strength and reduces the chance of unwanted slack, while an ergonomic grip enhances comfort during long trolling sessions. A self-lubricating gear system helps manage heat buildup, preserving performance when days on the water run long. At 30.7 oz, the reel balances power and control, and the 4.7:1 gear ratio supports brisk retrieves suitable for a variety of wireline setups. The 2BB+1RB bearing configuration contributes to dependable rotations and smooth handling in cool weather.
