Overview

The OKUMA SLV-78b SLV fly reel blends accessible pricing with serious on-water performance. Built around a die-cast aluminum frame and a true large-arbor design, it supports fast line retrieval so you can stay in contact with the fish as it takes a run. The reel’s construction emphasizes durability and smooth operation, while the drag system offers a balanced feel under pressure without breaking the bank.

Key components work in concert: a precision machined stainless steel spool shaft, a one-way roller bearing, and a cork and stainless steel drag stack. These elements contribute to a dependable, consistent feel from first cast to the long, controlled fight, making the SLV-78b a versatile choice for anglers seeking value without compromise.

Key benefits

  • Die-cast aluminum frame delivers rigidity with manageably light weight.
  • Diecast super large arbor spool design enables blazing fast line pickup.
  • Precision machined stainless steel spool shaft for smooth, reliable rotation.
  • One-way roller bearing ensures the drag engages in a single, predictable direction.
  • Multi-disk cork and stainless steel drag washers provide strong yet controllable resistance.
  • Non-slip, rubberized handle knobs improve grip in wet conditions.
  • Left-to-right hand retrieve conversion is straightforward for setup flexibility.

Real-world use cases
