OPST Commando Smooth Integrated Skagit Head – 150 Grain

Meet the OPST Commando Smooth: Integrated Skagit for close-range versatility

The OPST Commando Smooth merges a Commando Head with a slim, coated running line into a single, seamless setup. Designed with trout anglers in mind—covering streamer, dry fly, and nymph tactics at close range—the line glides through guides with minimal resistance. The orange running line stands out against the Sauk Blue head, helping you track and position your cast quickly in variable water.

Key benefits at a glance

• Integrated design combines head and running line for a smooth, gradual taper
• No noticeable bump at the guides during casts or strips; the line feels fluid from start to finish
• Bright orange running line contrasts with the Sauk Blue head for quick tracking
• Designed to be used with Micro Tips and Commando Floating Tips, 5–10 ft long
• Available in multiple head weights (150–300 gr) and a 99.3 ft length

Real-world use and potential gains

For close-range fishing, this head shines when you strip flies right up to the rod tip. The near-tip performance can feel smoother than the original Commando Head, with a familiar profile that seasoned fans will recognize, yet refined for streamer and dry/nymph tactics. The longer setup supports confident mends and controlled presentations, while remaining versatile enough to adapt to a broad range of water conditions.

Pair this head with OPST Micro Tips and Commando Floating Tips to tailor your rig from 5 to 10 feet long. In practice, anglers may notice easier line control in tight water, improved balance during rapid strip retrieves, and a more forgiving feel when feeding line into the rod during delicate casts.
