PENN Special Senator Star Drag Conventional Reel — HT-100 Drag, 11 lb Max, 375 yd/30 lb, Aluminum Spool (Red/Black)

A Legendary Workhorse for Saltwater Fishing

The PENN Special Senator line carries a storied legacy dating back to 1936. This conventional reel is built to be a versatile offshore workhorse, trusted by anglers who pursue everything from bottom structure to offshore giants. It features a machined and anodized aluminum spool paired with a rugged stainless steel frame, ready to withstand the demanding conditions of saltwater angling.

Why it stands out

The HT-100 star drag delivers smooth, controllable drag as fighting fish test the tackle. A marine-grade bronze main gear paired with a stainless steel pinion yields consistent winding with each turn, while the low gear ratio profile feels like a dependable winch that can handle deep-lot lifts with confidence. Retrieve cadence is tuned to balance power and control when anglers need to pull from the bottom or work stubborn fish on heavy tackle.

Durability you can feel on deck

Stainless steel frame rings increase rigidity and resist flex during long, hard battles. The shell integrates Bakelite sideplates for rugged, reliable performance, and the reel stand includes a heavy-duty clicker for feedback at the moment of bite. Saltwater resilience is a core focus, with proven components designed to stand up to repeated exposures to brine and spray.

Real-world use: nearshore to offshore adventures

From reef edges to open-water structure, this Senator shines when you need steady, controlled retrieves under demanding conditions. The combination of robust materials and time-tested design provides a reliable experience on back-to-back trips, giving you the feeling of a trusted companion on the water.
