Description
A versatile saltwater bait pattern
Region Fishing's Saltwater Mullet Fly in Purple is a versatile bait pattern designed for saltwater predators that chase baitfish. This 3-pack is tied on Mustad Duratin saltwater hooks, delivering a balanced combo of strength and sharpness with a compact profile. The vivid purple body and lifelike silhouette read clearly in a range of conditions—from sunlit flats to shaded estuary channels—making it a dependable option for tarpon, snook, redfish, and other gamefish that prey on smaller baitfish.
Smart action that mimics baitfish
Vary your strip to create a subtle pause and a natural sinking cadence. The fly’s profile helps imitate an injured baitfish, inviting decisive strikes at mid-water or near structure. In practice, anglers often start with a medium retrieve and adjust speed based on water clarity and fish mood, using short pauses to entice follow-ups.
Key features at a glance
- Three flies per package on Mustad Duratin saltwater hooks
- Premium materials deliver lifelike shine and movement
- Weed guard included; can be clipped off if not needed
Real-life use cases
Cast to tarpon cruising along sandy shorelines, work snook along docks and mangroves, or cover redfish ambush lanes on inland flats. The color and silhouette are designed to read as a natural baitfish across varied light and water conditions, helping anglers cover a broad range of saltwater habitats.
Construction and care
Tied on a #3/0 hook purpose-built for saltwater fishing, the fly balances a sturdy profile with responsive action. Use fresh line and a steady, varied retrieve to maximize motion. The weed guard offers protection when fishing near overhanging vegetation or pilings.
Pack and value
This 3-pack provides consistency and value for a day on the water. Each fly blends reliable hardware with high-quality materials to withstand saltwater use and repeated casts.
Fishing setup tips
- Vary stripping speed and pause length to trigger strikes
- Cast to structure, edges, and ambush lanes where baitfish feed
- Adjust depth by stripping range and keeping a tight line during the retrieve
