Versatile nymph pattern for trout and panfish

Region Fishing's Tungsten Bead Head Flash Back Pheasant Tail Mayfly Nymph Fly is a versatile nymph pattern designed to mimic a wide range of aquatic nymphs. Its impressionistic styling hints at mayflies, stoneflies, and caddis in a way that looks natural under water as currents move through rivers and streams.

The tungsten bead head delivers a decisive sink, helping the fly reach feeding fish faster and present in a natural profile across a variety of water conditions. A subtle flash back adds just enough sparkle to attract attention without overpowering the presentation, making it a balanced choice for calm pools, riffles, and faster runs alike.

Built around a classic pheasant tail silhouette, the fly suggests an active nymph without being a direct replica. This makes it a flexible option that can function as a top nymph or a bottom nymph, letting you adapt your retrieve to the conditions you encounter on the water. The design is described as impressionistic, representing a wide range of aquatic nymphs including mayflies, stoneflies, and caddis, so it can be useful across several hatches and water types.

Assortment and sizing

The package contains 12 flies in total, with three copies of each size 12, 14, 16, and 18. This compact assortment gives you quick switching options if the hatch shifts or if fish respond differently from pool to pool.

When you are unsure what to fish for, this fly is a reliable choice to try as either a top nymph or a bottom nymph, offering a versatile option to test in your favorite rivers and streams.
