Description
Overview
Region Fishing’s Tungsten Bead Head Prince Nymph Fly is a time-tested pattern designed to help anglers locate active fish across rivers and streams. Named for Doug Prince and his favorite Kings River stretches in California, this pattern has traveled widely and remains a reliable choice for nymph anglers seeking productive presentations.
The standout feature is the Tungsten Bead Head, which adds measured weight to help the fly descend into the fish-holding zone and reach feeding depth more quickly. This isn’t a guarantee, but a weighted presentation can improve your ability to cover water efficiently while you focus on your drift and strike indicators, especially in current or deeper runs.
In addition to depth control, the bead head creates a subtle flash that catches light as the fly moves with the current. The overall silhouette and natural-insect suggestion of the Prince Nymph pattern offer a versatile option for various water types and conditions, from fast riffles to slower pools.

How to fish it
In practice, this Prince Nymph pattern performs well as a top nymph in a dual dropper rig, or as a stand-alone search pattern when water conditions call for a weighted presentation. Adjust your tippet length and depth to match feeding activity, and consider slower retrieves in calm pockets or faster pulls through moving water. The combination of weight, profile, and craftsmanship makes it a staple option for anglers building a versatile river kit.
