Seaguar STS Trout/Steelhead 100% Fluorocarbon Leader — 17lb, 100yds (17STS100)

Meet Seaguar STS Trout/Steelhead, a 100% fluorocarbon leader material engineered for Salmon, Trout, and Steelhead. This species-specific solution brings together advanced fluorocarbon performance with a compact diameter, delivering strong abrasion resistance, reliable knot strength, and near-invisibility underwater. With a 17 lb break strength and a 100-yard length (product code 17STS100), STS is built to handle the pace and variability of river fisheries while keeping a stealthy profile in clear water.

Why anglers choose STS for trout and steelhead

STS is designed to get to the fish quickly and stay strong in the fight. The material’s 100% fluorocarbon composition offers impressive abrasion resistance and knot strength, while its smaller diameter helps you keep a stealthy presentation without sacrificing performance. Its lower refractive index compared with monofilament makes it noticeably less visible underwater, which can be an advantage when targeting wary fish.

• Abrasion resistance and knot strength help you stay connected when fishing around rocks, logs, and structure.
• Near invisibility underwater reduces glare and helps you present baits naturally in clear or pressured waters.
• Smaller diameter maintains line strength while offering better sensitivity to bites.
• Greater impact strength supports steady fights, even in current or stronger runs.
• Fast sinking design drives your lure or bait into the strike zone quickly for trout and steelhead.

Field-ready use and scenarios

STS stands out in challenging streams and rivers where finicky trout or wary steelhead demand stealth and durability. It performs when casting through heavy cover, with a line that can handle rough terrain without sacrificing sensitivity.

• Rocks, laydowns, brush—STS offers reliability when negotiating cover and structure.
• Current and flowing water—its sink rate helps position baits in upstream seams and feeding lanes.
• Clear-water conditions—low visibility promotes a stealthy presentation for cautious fish.

Seaguar remains a pioneer in fluorocarbon lines and leaders, trusted by pros across species. This STS material is specifically engineered for Salmon, Trout, and Steelhead, combining dependable knot strength with a tight, fast sink. While outcomes vary, anglers exploring this line may experience improved control and presentation in demanding waters.
