Shimano Bunker Current Sniper Splash Walk Walkingbait COL18SWBN – Big Predator Fishing Lure

Overview

Meet the Shimano Bunker Current Sniper Splash Walk Walkingbait (COL18SWBN), a purpose-built lure designed to engage hungry predators in saltwater and brackish environments. The lure combines deliberate balance with a distinctive walk-the-dog action that mimics wounded bait, inviting follows and aggressive strikes in key fishing moments.

Key benefits at a glance

• Walk-the-dog action that stays in the strike zone longer, helping you cover water with precision.
• Low-pitch knock and subtle vibrations to grab the attention of large game fish even at distance.
• Tail-heavy design gives the lure a vertical pose when paused, influencing bite exposure and hook engagement.

In the water, the CURRENT SNIPER is engineered to endure tough fights. The through-wire construction adds durability, so the lure can stand up to aggressive strikes and heavy pulls without losing integrity. The SCALE BOOST finish provides a lifelike sheen that reflects ambient light, helping the lure register on a target’s radar as a natural presence.

The finish also benefits from Shimano's Kyorin process, contributing to color depth and wear resistance. This combination of materials and finishes helps maintain its flashing profile through repeated casts and retrieves, a factor anglers notice when casting near structure, weed edges, or current seams.

Real-life use cases

• Cast along weed lines and rock edges at dawn or dusk when striped bass patrol estuaries and inlets.
• Make a short, controlled retrieve in a current seam to keep the lure active in the strike window.
• Pair with a slow, pause-filled cadence to highlight the vertical pause and high-visibility finish during long runs.

Design details that matter

The lure’s heavier tail section helps the product sit vertical when paused, rather than lying flat. This orientation can influence how the lip and body interact with water at depth, potentially affecting hook exposure during aggressive strikes. The through-wire construction enhances durability, while the SCALE BOOST finish and Kyorin coating contribute to a lifelike look that stands up to repeated casting and saltwater exposure.

Overall, the Current Sniper Splash Walk is a thoughtfully built option for anglers who chase big predators and value a lure that pairs action with resilience. While results can vary with conditions and technique, this lure presents multiple ways to manipulate water, provoke a strike, and maintain a credible presence on the water surface and just below.
