The Fly Fishing Place Guerilla Hopper Flies – Yellow High-Vis Grasshopper Dry Fly (4-pack, Size 8)

Overview

Meet the Guerilla Hopper flies from The Fly Fishing Place, a yellow high-visibility dry fly designed to mimic a grasshopper or stonefly adult skimming across the surface. The bright silhouette and buoyant build help make the fly easy to spot and track, even in sunny or reflective water. This 4-pack gives you consistent color and size for quick rig swaps on the water.

Pattern, presentation, and versatility

The pattern combines a recognizable hopper profile with buoyant materials to produce a natural glide and noticeable surface presence. It excels from calm pools to pocket water, and it pairs well with a beaded nymph dropper for indicator-style fishing when you want to probe slightly deeper zones.

• Mimics grasshopper or stonefly adults with a high-visibility profile
• Strong surface presentation for bank-side casts and hot days
• Effective for trout, bass, and panfish across various water types

Ideal conditions and water types

Use on bright days when fish feed near the surface, or when scanning shallow runs for rising activity. The yellow hue enhances visibility for the angler and provides a clear strike cue in reflective light and clear or stained water.

• Bank-popping during warm seasonal windows
• Exploring pocket water and slow runs for surface takes

Rig ideas

Beyond straightforward surface fishing, the Guerilla Hopper works well with indicator setups that include a beaded nymph dropper, enabling a quick transition to slightly deeper zones without losing the surface cue.
