Parachute Blue Wing Olive BWO: Classic Trout Dry Fly Set

The Blue Wing Olive parachute dry fly remains a staple for dry-fly anglers, valued for its quiet buoyancy, subtle silhouette, and dependable drift across varied streams. This 6-pack features six hand-tied parachute dries on premium hooks in size 20, a versatile scale that fits many trout environments. The BWO imitates a common mayfly hatch and is appreciated for its adaptability across different water conditions. Crafted in Oregon, The Fly Fishing Place blends time-honored tying techniques with modern detail to produce flies that feel ready for a day on the water.

What makes this set stand out is the craftsmanship behind each fly—carefully aligned thread wraps, a delicate wing, and a balanced buoyancy that helps the fly float with a natural leader drift. The parachute post provides a crisp line of sight for tracking in bright light or turbid water. The olive body and wing shape mirror an early mayfly, making it a competitive choice in riffles, tailouts, and slow pools. While outcomes depend on multiple factors, anglers often find the BWO presentation appealing across a range of conditions.
