Overview

The Fly Fishing Place presents a time-tested Parachute Blue Winged Olive dry fly set, designed to mimic one of the most productive mayflies at the surface. This 6-fly assortment in size 18 offers a crisp silhouette and buoyant profile that helps you present a natural-looking drift during calm or lightly windy days when trout are feeding on surface hatches.

Why anglers rely on the Parachute BWO

  • Classic BWO mayfly imitation, trusted during Mayfly hatches when trout rise to search for emerging insects.
  • Parachute construction enhances buoyancy and keeps the profile visible for easier detection on the surface.
  • Hand-tied with attention to material quality and durable hooks for repeated casts and lasting use.
  • Size 18 offers a precise, subtle presentation suited to finicky surface-feeders.

What you receive

  • 6 flies in a single set, all size 18 for consistent presentation.
  • Each fly is hand-tied using proven materials and a premium hook standard.
  • Crafted with care in Oregon, reflecting a blend of classic patterns and reliable execution.

Core uses and environments

These dry flies are versatile across rivers, streams, and calm ponds where surface activity signals a BWO hatch. The pattern is designed to ride the surface with a natural pause and subtle drift, which may attract rising trout, and could also tempt other surface-feeding species in appropriate conditions.

Practical tips for best results

  • Present with a light, natural drift and slow pauses to mimic natural emergences.
  • Watch for subtle takes and adjust your line tension to keep the fly on a drag-free path.
  • Inspect hooks and ties between trips; replace worn flies to preserve performance across days on the water.

With this set, you’ll have a reliable option ready for BWO activity during riffles and runs, helping you cover one of the day’s most dependable surface opportunities. The Fly Fishing Place aims to provide patterns that respect classic fly tying while offering practical use for modern anglers.
