UTC Ultra Thread 140 Denier Purple – Fly Tying Nylon Thread, 100 yd Spool (UT1092)

Overview

UTC Ultra Thread 140 Denier Purple is a purpose-built fly tying thread crafted to help you achieve consistent tension, clean wraps, and durable finishes. Designed to stand up to the demands of tying delicate dries or robust streamers, this purple option adds visibility and a touch of color to your seasonal patterns.

Why choose nylon over polyester?

• Nylon stretches slightly to grip materials and maintain uniform tension, improving wrap control.
• Color depth is enhanced, delivering brighter, more intense hues across a wide palette.
• The material balance supports durable flies without adding excess bulk on the hook.

Flat profile and minimal twists

• The thread is intentionally flat with the fewest twists, allowing slower, more even wrapping—especially near the eye of the hook.
• A flatter wrap reduces buildup and helps materials lay down smoothly under tension.
• Enhanced grip without bulk supports precise, neat thread wraps on small flies.

Lightly waxed for smoother handling

• Waxing minimizes thread buildup and yields a slicker feel as you work the thread through materials.
• Wax enhances cement penetration for a more durable head and overall fly integrity.

Not bonded for versatility

• Unbonded, multifilament construction supports split-thread tying techniques and delicate material handling.
• The texture remains supple enough for fine control across varied fly patterns.

Practical spool design

• Spools are sized to turn smoothly on standard bobbins, reducing snags during long tying sessions.
• Color-coded end caps help you identify the product quickly on busy benches.
• Each spool holds 100 yards of thread for consistent work across multiple projects.
