Wapsi Micro Flashabou Gold — Ultra-Thin Fly Tying Material (FMF250)

Overview

The Wapsi Micro Flashabou Gold is a purposefully narrow, shimmering fly tying filament designed for meticulous micro-wraps. At just 0.01 inch wide, it offers a finer profile than traditional Flashabou, enabling precise segmentation on tiny hooks. Despite its slender footprint, the material has been engineered with added thickness to support stronger ties, giving you more confidence when building delicate patterns.

Key advantages

• Ultra-narrow width of 0.01 inch for refined, clean wraps
• Increased thickness to improve tying strength on small patterns
• Gold hue provides subtle flash that complements delicate bodies
• Model FMF250 for easy identification and ordering

What you can create

• Small dry flies, midges, and nymphs with crisp, detailed segments
• Fine tail and wing accents that catch light from multiple angles
• Micro wraps on tiny hooks without adding excessive bulk

Practical tying tips

• Cut concise lengths and anchor securely to thread before wrapping
• Wrap with steady tension to preserve the thin profile and avoid lumpiness
• Finish with a light whip finish or half-hitch to secure the end

Designed for versatility, the Micro Flashabou Gold lets anglers explore refined, detailed patterns while maintaining ease of use. It streams smoothly from the spool, lays flat against the hook shank, and lends a tasteful sparkle that can enhance natural-light visibility without overpowering the overall pattern.

Whether you’re developing micro-patterns for clear water or adding a touch of flash to more complex designs, this material pairs with a wide range of threads and hooks. The product is identified by the model number FMF250 and carries the distinct Wapsi brand, known for crafting materials that support thoughtful, detail-oriented fly tying.
