Wapsi Pocket-Eye Coneheads Large Black Nickel — Fly Tying Cone Heads

Wapsi Pocket-Eye Coneheads: Large Black Nickel

Enhance your fly presentations with the Wapsi Pocket-Eye Coneheads in Large Black Nickel. These coneheads add noticeable weight and a streamlined profile, helping flies reach deeper zones in varied currents while maintaining a smooth, snag-resistant silhouette. The option to choose a bright polish (gold, nickel, or copper) introduces eye-catching flash, while the black nickel finish offers a more subdued, low-glare look for stealthy presentations. Model EYCP7100 is positioned among Wapsi’s conehead lineup to deliver dependable depth control without excessive casting effort.

In practice, the tapered head design minimizes snag risks by presenting a clean taper that slides through weed edges and structure with less resistance than bulkier alternatives. Anglers often find that the balance of weight and streamlined shape aids in controlling depth across fast runs and slower pools alike, helping the fly arrive where fish are most likely to inspect it. The finish choice lets you tailor visibility to water conditions and desired on-water aesthetics, from flashy for attraction to subtle for a more natural look.

Key benefits

• Increased sink rate due to the tapered cone geometry
• Snag-resistant profile that reduces hang-ups near structure
• Choice of polished finishes (gold, nickel, copper) or black nickel for different light and water conditions

Finish and appearance

The option to select a polished metal finish adds flash and lure appeal, which can help a fly stand out in moving water. For anglers seeking a more discreet look, the black nickel variant blends with shadowed water and low-light scenarios while still delivering depth control.

Practical use cases

• Deep-nymph or streamer presentations in fast currents where depth matters
• Clear-water or lightly stained water where a touch of flash helps visibility
• Riffles and deeper pools where a streamlined head reduces drag during casting

Designed for compatibility with common fly patterns, these coneheads are easy to attach and work well as an insert or head on a range of patterns. EYCP7100 denotes the large-size option in the line, aiming to balance weight with castability for a variety of water and target species.
