Smart, versatile dry fly hackle at a friendly price

Whiting Farms' High & Dry Hackle Cape in Medium Ginger makes the classic Whiting performance accessible for wings and tiers who want value without compromising color and consistency. The cape gathers hackle feathers across sizes 10 through 18, with a strong emphasis on 14 and 16, giving you ample options for a wide range of dry fly patterns. The High & Dry line collection is known for offering the broadest color selection among its dry fly offerings, helping you tailor flies to match water color, light, and hatch cues. When you place an order, you will receive one package in the color you choose, ready to start tying.

What you get and how it helps

• Feathers sized 10–18, with a predominance of 14 and 16 for common dry fly patterns
• The widest color palette in Whiting's dry fly range to improve hatch matching
• One package delivered per order in your selected color for consistency

The Medium Ginger shade adds an earthy warmth to your flies, helping patterns blend naturally with riverbank light and water tone. This makes it easier to produce lifelike collars and subtle iridescence in the finished flies while staying within a budget.

Practical benefits for tying and fishing

• Cost-conscious option that still reflects Whiting's high standards
• Broad color range supports pattern development across different hatches and water types
• Ideal for tiers building a range of dry flies from floaters to subtle emergers

Whether you're building a standard stillwater setup or a fast-river kit, this cape can be a dependable starting point. The Medium Ginger color brings a natural, muted warmth that complements many natural mock patterns and can work across different light conditions. While this cape is designed to be an affordable entry into Whiting's dry fly line, it remains suitable for seasoned tiers who want a consistent, color-rich option for experimentation and practice.
